100 Hammers Project with Stuart Gunter

Explore Monkeyclaus

Monkeyclaus participated in the collaborative art project 100 hammers with local drummer, Stuart Gunter. 100 hammers is inspired by Maine Artist and collector, David McLaughlin. David

inspired people through his art and his creative use of recycled materials. David passed away in May 2010 and his community decided to honor him by collaborating in this project

using 100 hammers. Artists from all over the United States and from many different disciplines submit their reuse of these hammers to give them another story. Stuart set up his drums in the studio one rainy fall September morning and recorded the following piece for the 100 hammers collection. We recommend listening the audio piece first. It stands on its own. And then you can view the video of the set-up and process below. Let us know what impressions you receive from the experience and visit 100 hammers website to see other examples of creative uses of hammers.
