First full length release from Volt on the Exile On Mainstream label. Based in Chemnitz, East Germany, Volt is a troupe of hellians. Their sound is reminiscent of The Jesus Lizard and others of that ilk, with a decidedly modern and European twist. Mighty!

The Grid [E.P.]

Sbles3plex – The Grid E.P – Fundamental Bass Intelligence 02* Author of three noticed releases on the well known Netherlands label Djax Up Beats, Sbles3plex makes his great return on the young US structure led by Morphogenetic and Stjarna. From now on alone in this project, Spanish Ivan Arnau alias Dark Vektor (Dona-Li) signs here a production already celebrated with reason by critics as one of the best 12'' over the last two years. On A side, "The Virtual Place Is The Future" delivers a wonderful electrobass cut, marrying with sumptuous synthetic melodies a seizing vocoder. Rich and heading, the title sees himself revisited on the flip by the excellent Miami duo Xerodefex (Tekmind) in a dark and dancefloor register, strewn that and there with Sci-Fi sonorities. At last, cherry on the cake, "Sweet Self Destruction" offers as a conclusion a deep and serious beauty punctuated by superb dark strings. Futuristic, old school and funky at the same time, this is an extraordinary EP!!

A collaboration between cosmically-minded people, Galactic Core first took shape on the summer solstice of 2007 in Nelson County, Virginia, at the picturesque Monkey Claus studios. Following a ritual solar prayer at noon, and subsequent galactic synchronization, Brian Matthew, and Abel, interpreted the transmissions via guitar, drums, synthesizer, harmonium...Brian Thackeray lives in Portland, OR, and plays music with Brave Priest, Dark Yoga, Melted Prism, and occasionally solo as Machete. Matthew Clark is a vagabond and plays with Ostinato, 2012 Love Orchestra, Mass Sabbath, and Grand Banks. Abel lives in Virginia and does numerous solo and collaboration projects.
Politically charged angst rock from Charlottsville's Karl Rove. Masterminds of conservative rock deception? Thirsty for oil? Reptilian shape shifting coldblooded anthems of hegemony? Channeling the mindset of Rove himself, The Karl Rove (rockband) wields their magic mirror deftly and transforms the Rove Ideology into a counter insurgent beam of light energy which is good for plants, animals and humans of all creeds. Follow the sounds of a hushed womans voice, as it leads through a plucky forest of Japanese ritual strings, through a collage of samples, and finally to the banjo which leads you home....Created by Abel Okugawa and crew of friends and family in various locations on the East Coast both urban and pastoral. Griffin, being a onetime member of the seminal doom outfit Pentagram, now offers up these heavy cuts as Place of Skulls, the band named after Golgotha, where Christ was crucified.

Get On The Buzz!

"Get On The Buzz!" was released in the sunny winter of 2002. Critics bowed down before Payola's unique attitude. The album is an eclectic mash up of German pop sensibility with menacing crunchy guitar driven anthems, and a distorted sense of humor. Vocalist Nico Kozak speaks truly weird sentiments with a dead pan delivery, bounces back and forth between spoken lyricism and belted chorus, and keep the meandering presentation of the music focused. Highly recommended for fans of weird and heavy pop music.

Waive combines his no-pick, percussive style on guitar with some of the most compelling lyrics in honky tonk. His smoky voice delivers songs laden with fervor and heart. You can catch a glimpse of his Tidewater roots in the fire and brimstone melodies, and you can feel his love overflow for his Divorcees: Charlie Bell, Jen Fleisher and Anna Matijasic.

Gabriel Goldstein, who currently resides in San Francisco, is a musician and filmmaker; overall a top-notch guy who is a key player on the molecular level of Monkeyclaus. That's pretty sweet stuff. We listened to this record for hours on repeat while we were building the Monkeyclaus studio. This record was recorded in a few different places by a few different folks. Tracks were cut in the original studio, the Monkeyclaus dining room, the Monkeyclaus front porch, 816 studio, and beyond. Acoustic Guitar and Vocals by Gabriel Goldstein and friends. Also check out Gabriel's work with Sweet Crude Bill and the Nautical Lighthouse Society.

Diabolical mind flaying from just outside Twin Peaks, Washington. (If Slayer were a garage band living in Twin Peaks co-fronted by "Bob" and Gibby and Lemme and Keith Moon and Animal all as a multi-personality driven two piece collective.) Psycho power rock for the mental at heart. Their striped down approach forces both dudes to push each other to the brink of collapse. Kevin Mika is a one man band in a brave new tradition. Drums are recorded live, looped, and sampled. Guitars and synths are stacked. Pitches are bent. Layers expand.
Blame It On Your Monkey

A crooner with a fascinating life, which has brought him from his birth in Indonesia, across Europe, to tour and visit the US, and now to reside again in Berlin, Tommy delivers a playful and complex assortment of tales. His deep voice juxtaposed against his small frame and monkey-esque nature adds to the mystery of his music. This recording seems to explore seedy worlds of love, loss, and desire, through Roy Orbison sunglasses with a sometimes sarcastic tone. Deft guitar meanderings and twangy tone washes frame the stories as they come to life and fade into the next episode. The perfect soundtrack for the Ambassador cab ride from Bombay to Berlin, while chain smoking and daydreaming.

A new avant-jazz project that features Paul Watson on cornet, electric bass, sampler, and acoustic guitar, Phil Murphy on tabla, lap steel, and electric guitar, and Brian Jones on drums and percussion. The record is expansive and heavy, flowing between sweet and lush atmospheres, tribal grooves and industrial grain. Composed in a cinematic style with international influences from the indigenous and traditional folk instrumentations of forgotten cultures.

New Attitude EP

In between a massive national tour with a nine piece band in support of The Getty Address, and relocating to Brooklyn, chief Dirty Projector Dave Longstreth has written an EP worth of new songs. Playing the "Electric Counterpoint" to the Getty Address' "Music for 18 Musicians," New Attitude is a refreshingly pared-down record: simple, beautiful and focused. It is dominated by the sound of chiming microtonal guitars, sub-bass dragon breaths, a sextet of cellos and double-basses — and most of all by Longstreth's singing, which has never been either so varied or so wonderfully weird. The cover art, a painting by Longstreth's brother Jake, imagines a racially ambiguous Dave through the lens of sincere family portraiture. With its nice pastel colors and beautiful, expressive brushwork, it is a lifelike portrait of the artist.
